Transfer 2017

Hi friends,

Scripps is my top choice for transferring, and I’ve been reading some of the old threads here. One thread said that in that year, they did not accept anyone at all. Apparently they even offered to refund the applicants, because they didn’t read their apps.
After checking on their Common Data set for 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, it seems that for both years, ~200 applicants applied and very few got in: 0/200 and 1/190, respectively.

This has me worried, seeing as Scripps is one my last options for transferring. Does anyone know the likelihood of this trend applying to this year’s transfers?

Hey! Scripps is one of my top choices, so you aren’t alone. I recently toured the school, and I believe they have had some issues with space/housing in the past. The lady who gave the tour said they should be able to accommodate more transfers now. I believe it will be similar to Pomona’s intake. Maybe 20 out of 150-200? Don’t take that as fact, I don’t want to give anyone false hope, but things definitely look better for this year.

Hey! I’m trying to transfer into Scripps as well. Good luck to both of you! I wish we had a definitive decision date!

That’s certainly a lot more hopeful than 0 or 1/200, but even 20 is very small… Kind of hoping for a miracle at this point ):
Best of luck with your decisions my friend!!

I’ve looked in past threads and it seems all the transfer decisions are released May 15th.
Good luck to you too! c:

Good luck to everyone!! I applied to Pitzer and Scripps for fall 2017, and I’m very nervous lol

just got an email from scripps…looks like they aren’t accepting any transfers this year either :frowning:

We just got the same email on not accepting any transfers for Fall 2017 (said they’d refund application fee since they did not even review).

I was very optimistic about my application to Scripps College, and was anticipating a possibly positive result, however, I received an email from Scripps today notifying me that NO transfers would be accepted. Makes the whole 30% transfer acceptance rate I’d gotten off Google seem entirely misleading…

Admissions increased the number of freshman admit offers this year, seemingly anticipating a drop in yield in response to the turmoil on campus this semester. It may be that yield didn’t drop as much as they expected, and an oversized incoming class resulted, leaving no housing space for transfers. I guess we’ll get more numbers as the fall semester approaches. Sorry for the disappointment - refund or no, it’s frustrating to work hard on an application and not even have it read.

To any future prospective transfer applicants who will read this thread:

For the record, extremely low admittance rate has happened for 3 years straight, 2014-2017: 0 admitted for two years, 1 admitted in one year
Maybe Scripps will sort out their transfer admissions and start actually admitting students sometime in the near future… lol

Best of luck to the rest of you, I hope you find happiness wherever you’re going/staying :>

I applied to Pitzer and I wanted to apply to Scripps but I missed the application deadline. Now I don’t feel so bad about it. Hopefully I get into Pitzer, we’ll find out next Monday!
