So do we give UT our transcript from spring 2011 semester, if we only have 15 hours from the fall semester?

Yes. Before June 15, or it’ll be too late though. What major are you going for?

I am trying to be a pharmacist, so I am going for Biology or biochemistry major. Would you think i could get in if I have around a 3.5 GPA

If i get all A’s, it’ll be an 3.4545456 by the end of the semester. If I have D’s in my classes will it affect my GPA

Yes, they will look at all your grades. Not sure about your chances. COLA is supposed to be the easiest school to get into, but a 3.5 is what everybody seems to recommend around here. And who knows how the top 8% rule will affect that.

I saw that grades that will transfer are the classes that will you need and the grades won’t transfer if it’s classes that you do not need.

Ozzy906 is right. I’ve heard that average from the mouth of admissions. I just wish we could figure out how this new rule will affect us…

@B1azen
I think I know what you mean. They will use all courses that are TRANSFERABLE to calculate your GPA. Even if the course isn’t part of your degree plan. Use the ATE system ([UT Austin Automated Transfer Equivalency System](http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/ate/)), if you find your course it will be counted.

“Courses in which grades lower than C− are earned do not transfer. Grades from transfer credit are excluded from a student’s internal UT Austin GPA computation.” Does that mean lower than a C- the grade won’t affect your GPA

Is undergraduate studies harder or COLA?

B1azen:
Q1: They will still count your D or F in your GPA, but it won’t count as credit, so you’ll still have to retake it at UT or wherever you choose to go. They mean that your outside GPA won’t effect your inside GPA.

Q2: Undergraduate studies is the general college. It’s for undeclared majors and its only for students with 60 or less hours (freshmen and sophomores). You can not receive a degree from undergrad studies.
COLA (college of liberal arts) is the college that offers majors in degrees like psychology, anthropology, african-american studies, etc. You usually need a 3.5 to get accepted in COLA.

So to answer which one is harder, I’d say all of them haha. UT is a difficult school. I’d imagine undergraduate studies is easier cause its the same level coursework as community college, but with alot bigger classes. I’d also imagine Undergrad Studies to be an easier college to get accepted into. Contact the admissions office, they would probably know more…

I had a question. Im a sophomore at St. Edwards University and Im apply for fall 2011, but I went to a community college my freshman year. At the community college I have a 3.41 and at St. Edward’s I have a 3.75. Would UT just average the GPA?

Will they look at what classes you take?? Because I got a D in Econ 1 and Hist 1, but I am going for The college of natural science and what if I have all A’s in my science and math classes. My community college gpa is 2.333 with 3 classes and my four year university is 3.0 with 4 classes and if I believe I can get a 4.0 this semester with 5 classes. Do you think I can make it?

bump bump bump

The average transfer applicant GPA to UT is a 3.3 and the average accepted GPA is a 3.61. To put it lightly, it’s going to be tough man. They want evidence of a positive academic record or something like that meaning that you always make good grades or they can obviously see you’re improving as a student. They also want to see well-rounded students. So if you make straight A’s and do something active in the community to make yourself stand out, then your chances will be higher. UT is a tough school to get in. They accepted 41% of their transfer applicants last year and they put no weight on whether you went to a 2-year or 4-year.

To answer your other questions they will look at all the classes you take, but the ones towards your major will have the most impact. You’re good there. Also have you retaken those two classes you got a D in? Those will not transfer to UT. Also you need 30 completed transferable hours to transfer to UT. You’ll be right on the border with that because of the D’s you made. Remember you can always stay another year at your school and apply again.

Good luck!
