I was a journalism major, but applied as an econ major who will apply to Kenan Flagler if I attend. I realize this means I'll be there an extra semester, but that is fine. Right now I'm not sure where I'll be attending; still waiting on some other schools.

I am a junior transfer and was waitlisted. The letter said that there were 170 students on the waitlist. I will here back from admissions by June 30 of their final decision. I know that I have to excel in my classes this final semester but does anyone know anything else I can do to help strengthen my application? I was planning on visiting admissions this coming Friday. They are unable to predict the amount of students accepted from the waitlist but said in the letter that last year 216 were on the waitlist and 151 were admitted. The year before that it was totally different and 328 were put on the waitlist and only 6 were admitted. I've noticed that they keep putting fewer students on the waitlist each year. Do you think that could be a good thing in my favor? I would appreciate any advice or help because I am so upset but I am not giving up!

I am not trying to be negative, but I think coming off the wait list is totally random. If I am wrong, someone correct me/advise mpbarano correctly. Unfortunately, I believe keeping grades up etc. would help you had you been deferred, not waitlisted. Good luck!

mpbarano I think you have a chance. I think in addition to having good grades, showing that you're really really intrested will help a lot. This year might be bad b/c of the Basketball Championship, it sounds dumb but it gave the school a lot of exposure, and more people who applied to transfer will probably enroll because of it, so they'll take less people from the waitlist.

HS: We didn't have GPA's, but I never cared much for academics :$ I had A LOT of EC's though.
