Transfer Acceptance to BU

I just found out I got into CAS as a transfer for the class of 2011.

Has anyone else heard back? I was a bit stunned at how fast the process went.

I'm still waiting to hear back, but there was a problem with a college officials report. I hope that doesn't mess me up.

Also, what were your numbers like? So I can get some sort of idea of where I stand.

Thestatusquo, I wouldn't worry about it too much. From reading threads from last year if someone besides you messed up they really don't mind.

My stats:

Business major at UIUC....applied as an econ major at BU
GPA: 4.0/4.0

Major ECs from college: band, billiards club, economics club, and a business club.
Major ECs from high school: Boy Scouts (eagle scout), band, marching band, ski team, and independent piano and percussion. (I'm obviously leaving stuff out from both lists, but those are the major ones).

SAT: 660 CR, 670 W, 690 M

High school class rank: 52/428

Hope that helps, and best of luck!

Everything but your SAT scores make me feel inadequate.

I am waiting to hear back from BU also. I've had quite the past so I'm not really sure how BU is going to look at me but I'd love to go.

How did you find out? Online or through the mail?

I found out online.

If your application status says "review for your application is complete," then you'll probably find out within a day. About four hours after I saw that message I went back on and they had a separate option on the right hand called "admissions decision."

I wouldn't worry about it HorseGirl,we applied to the same major and from what I've seen you're better than me :-).

Does anyone know if the transfers have to do orientation just mixed in with the freshman? I'm not too excited about learning how to survive in college after spending a year at one.

thanks SKBike!

To answer your question about orientation - most schools have freshman and transfer orientations on the same days (or weekends, whatever), but the transfers only go to the same things as freshman that are relevent (like tours of buildings, stuff on information technology at the school). So no, you likely won't have to sit through hours of "surviving the first year experience."

As someone who has transfered before (from St. Johns to UAlbany) The transfer orientation was more about getting your schedule straight than anything else. It was on a totally different day than freshman, but then again, I transfered in to albany for the spring semester, so that might change things.

skbike2, when did you submit your application?

where online did you locate your decision if I may ask. I don't have any pages from BU bookmarked.

I submitted my application relatively late actually. I believe it was around the 22nd of March.

To find the applicant link, the easiest way is to just click on the "set up your account" link they had in the email they sent saying they received your application.

do you have the link to the "set up your account" webpage?

this is the link to the applicant link where you can check your decision.

BU Applicant Link

thank you.

actually, at BU you do have to go through the whole freshman orientation thing again. i transferred last fall and it was very annoying sitting there and hearing about "what parties not to go to" and "how to be safe in dorms". but our orientation leaders understood that we had been to college before and they were a little bit more lenient with free time and such. i still think it was a waste of 3 days though... also. any transfers feel free to message me with any questions i'd be happy to answer!

I just got "Our records currently indicate that review of your application is complete. Please note that the status of your application file and the required credentials are only accurate to date." on my BU page. Is that what you got before it released your decision? Does that mean my decision should be released soon?

Yeah, that's what I got right before I found out. Good luck!

And wow, that sucks. I Can't wait to hear about how to survive in college! (not.)

so how many people have heard back from BU? Im so nervous my status has not changed yet.
