Transfer Admissions Question?

I'm getting extremely antsy here but I just want to know. When do they start deciding upon transfer applications, mine was completed January 3rd 2013 according to the letter sent to my home but January 9th according to the Student Admin system.
I know it says four weeks minimum, but I just hope I'm not waiting until March to hear. A kid in high school that I know had their status change to "check back in 24 hours" today. This is a different applicant pool I realize but if they are starting to look at this person's application does it mean they may start looking at the transfer apps as well?

In particular I'm trying to get into the main campus as a transfer. (chance me at my other thread please http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-connecticut/1453124-chance-me.html)

It's my dream school so it's sort of a big deal and I worked extremely hard last semester, plus I have a bet with friends concerning a beard that is growing out of hand very fast and that I would like to shave. So would just like to know if anyone thinks I'll be hearing back soon.

Thanks!

Most of the programs haven’t hit their deadlines yet. I don’t think they’ve started reviewing applications yet since they’re not doing rolling admissions.

I recently sent an email asking if there’s any expected decision date. I’m not sure if there will be one since different schools and programs have different deadlines.

I just realized that my previous post is wrong and some programs have hit their deadlines. Liberal Arts & Science’s deadline isn’t until April 1 though.

I was told a couple different things each time I called up. The first time someone told me, the end of January they start going through the rolling admissions process. And through some research on these forums people who submitted transfer apps last year around the same time I did were starting to hear back in the time frame we are in now (Early to mid February).

I do not know much about transfer admissions for UConn but I am really surprised that you were given a branch campus instead of Storrs as a Freshman. Your college stats at Southern look great and that will definitely help your chances. I would be shocked if you did not get accepted this time around since transferring into UConn is probably less competitive than freshman admissions.

It appears that UConn is almost done with the freshman applicants for the fall of 2013, so I would expect them to starting reading transfer applications in the near future. Goodluck if you have any questions about UConn student life or whatever let me know.

From what I remember last year, the deadline for transfer applications was generally later in the year (February vs. January), which would lead me to believe transfer students also hear back later than HS students. No certainty on this, however.

Information pending in 24 hours as of right now when I checked. Hoping for the best! Thank you for weighing in everyone, I’ll post back here when I know!

I WAS ACCEPTED THIS MORNING! YES! Thank you for your help everyone! NOW A HUSKY!

Congratss Jcn3334! Pm me if you have any questions at UConn student life, housing, etc.

I’m surprised that they’ve started making decisions so early. I guess I should have submitted my application earlier.

Congratulations.

Thank you and good luck to you SaintSaens!

I applied on March 22, but my application was complete on April 2. It seems like the earliest people are hearing back is 4 weeks from the date of (application) completion.

Does anyone know how UConn admissions is calculating (or, just looking at) transfer GPA? I’m applying to CLAS, and I’m worried my GPA might be low (3.1, but with the classes I’ve repeated for course forgiveness it’s ~3.34). I’m also an older, non-traditional student (29), in-state, with a A.A. degree - not sure if those factors hurt or help.

Any thoughts or constructive comments would be greatly appreciated. :)
