Transfer Admissions - Semester Courseload

OK, so I understand that officially the schools say that they don't care what courses you take; they simply care about the rigor of the courses and that you do well. My first semester, I had a fairly well-rounded courseload: upper level calc course, philosophy course, a spanish lit writing seminar, and an econ course. This coming semester I'm registered for five challenging courses; however, all five are either economics or philosophy courses (my prospective majors).

Everything else equal, will the lack of a science course/ lab hurt my application to UChicago?

I'm in a similar situation, except I'm wondering whether the lack of calculus III will hurt given that I already have taken calc II.

I don't think so, given that core science courses are not particularly difficult, and the math requirement can be fulfilled without calc. Probably the best thing to do for yourself is make sure you shine in your classes, get close with your profs, etc.
