Transfer Admissions?

Haven't heard a thing from Syracuse since I applied in January 1st. Any transfers on this forum? Have you heard anything when we get notifications?

Curious about this myself, been looking all over their website and can’t find anything about when transfer decisions come out.

Current transfer here to answer any questions you might have that I can answer

Hi guys, so as i’ve said before I’m a transfer ambassador here at SU. I’m finishing up my second year here at Syracuse, I transferred in the fall of 2011. I’ve always wanted to go to Syracuse, and i’m so excited that i’m finally here now! My major is currently undecided in the Arts and Sciences, but I will be transferring to the iSchool, one of the top IT schools in the country. In the iSchool, spring 2014, I will be majoring in Information Management and Technology. Let me know if you guys want to know anything else

Orangegirl1870 Hi I would like to know once you receive admittance how long does it take to access financial aid on MySlice ? also Is the Admissions office separate from the financial aid office? and do either transfer students or those students pulled from the waitlist even receive Financial aid ? thank you

@OversizedHat Theres not really a “day” for transfer decision, I think this time of year they just make decisions and send them back to you. Last year it seemed to take a few weeks (like 2-3) after you send in everything from your application.

Hey guys, the admissions office says that it will take a couple of weeks before an admission decisions will be made, especially if you just submitted an application. If you have more questions or need more information, please call the office of admissions at 315-443-3611!

OrangeWhite22, after I received my admittance, I believe it took at least three weeks or so before I was able to see my financial aid packet. It was a while ago so I don’t remember the specific dates, but I do remember that it was well before classes started, because just like you, i’m sure, I had to figure out if I would choose SU. And yes, the financial aid office is separate from the admissions office, so any questions referring to financial aid would best addressed to them. And yes, transfer students get financial aid! I received a very good package, better than my home state schools! I’m not exactly sure how this work with wait listed students. Although, I would think that the same rules and opportunities would still apply! Let me know if you need anything else!

@CptPeel, Yeah, I figured that… but I submitted most of my application back in December/January, and my mid-term report for the current semester in mid/late March. Though Syracuse is definitely a ‘reach’ school for me, so I’m not sure what to think, maybe I should consider it a good thing that I haven’t gotten a rejection letter yet >.>

@OversizedHat

hrmmm…that doesn’t sound normal at all. I would definitely give them an email. Main admissions is orange@syr.edu.

@CptPeel

Thanks for the help/advice! I just heard back from them, evidently they are still reviewing transfer applications for fall 2013… so I guess for now, I’ll just take it as a good sign that I haven’t gotten rejected yet at least :P

Hey guys, just remember that if you have any questions, call the admissions office at 315-443-3611 to speak to a representative. They’re there to help you guys if you have questions. You can even send an email to transfertosu@syr.edu.

I still haven’t heard a thing from Syracuse. A bit ridiculous for them not to be in contact with students.

Hi, I too applied to transfer to Syracuse for Fall 2013. Just received my electronic acceptance form. They sent to my email as of early this morning. I just turned in my mid term report for Spring Semester about a week ago as well since I’m from Socal and we’re not quite done yet with community college here. I heard transfers usually receive notifications around this month too.

Hey @cecheve94 I also applied to Syracuse from a community college in SoCal. I haven’t heard back as of yet. How long after your application was complete did it take to receive your acceptance? Congrats by the way!

@maris1200, thanks! And I just received their email yesterday in the morning. The only documents I still had to submit was my spring mid-term report, which they have asked for since March. However, I didn’t officially fax it to them until May 16. So I guess it took only a couple of days. Not sure if my mid-term report was what determined their decision though. I think they’re slowly going to send out the decisions around now. They sent my acceptance electronically through my email instead of a mail letter too. It probably takes longer depending on the school you’ve applied to maybe? But best of luck to you!

I got told by admissions that my application was complete and on myslice there are no missing application materials listed however I did not submit a midterm report. Did they formally ask you for a midterm report and was it listed as missing on myslice for you? Thanks for your help!

Well at first the missing materials from my myslice said “Official Spring Transcript,” but that was during March, and so I thought that was weird because I just started my Spring semester. However, there was a mass email that went out I believe (I checked the details portion on the email and saw a whole bunch of other email addresses) regarding the confusion of the whole submitting of the Official Spring Transcript. It was in this email that I found out that they wanted the “Spring Mid-Term” report instead. I was told to go on commonapp and print out the Mid-Term form and have my professors fill it out and then fax it to them. I recently just checked myslice and I don’t have anything missing; although, I think I would still have to send them my official spring transcript after my semester is over. Maybe you should email or call them to see if they required a Mid-term report from you? It could be that your application is still pending. And no problem! Glad to help.
