Transfer Admissions

My friend applied to UCF about three and a half weeks ago, and he's a transfer from a florida community college. He has a 3.42 GPA, but his SAT score was 1020 (he was below in the math section). What are his chances? Also, about how long does it take to recieve an acceptance decision letter from UCF?

Hi TTwhite. You mentioned that your friend is transferring to UCF from a Florida Community College. Does your friend have an A.A. Degree from the Community College? If so, he is pretty much guaranteed admissions to one of Florida’s eleven Universities with an A.A. Degree, but not necessarily guaranteed admissions to the school of his choice. If he doesn’t have an A.A. Degree, he will have to meet the requirements of incoming freshman. I think his chances are great providing that he has an A.A. Degree. If not, his chances are slightly lower, as he would need to have a slightly higher GPA and SAT score. I would shoot for at least a 3.7 GPA and a SAT Score of at least 1200 if he doesn’t have the A.A. Degree and if he does have the A.A. Degree, I wouldn’t worry about that the scores, nor the GPA. To answer your last question, it should take about 1 - 1.5 weeks to get an acceptance letter from UCF after you are admitted. I would recommend that your friend downloads this: <a href=“Home Page - Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center”>Home Page - Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center; and fill it out as time goes on. That’s what I’m currently working on and it helps. I’m transferring in the Spring of 2009 for Business Management. What semester did your friend apply to?
