So has anybody been admitted as a UC transfer student as an undeclared major? I applied to all my choices as a Psych major but UCM accepted me as an 'Undeclared: Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts' major. Wondering if anybody from any UC is in the same situation? Or has anybody transferred as an undeclared major and if so was it harder for you?

Merced is definitely not my first choice but I haven't nixed it as an option since its the only school so far that is offering to pay my full tuition.

Check the psychology department at Merced to see if you need to do anything special after starting there to declare the major. The web page does not say that much:
http://ssha.ucmerced.edu/2.asp?uc=1&lvl2=41&lvl3=41&lvl4=102&contentid=139

Economics at Berkeley is somewhat similar in that they want the transfer student to complete or be enrolled in at least one intermediate economics course (micro or macro) and at least one math or statistics course at Berkeley before applying to declare the major.

Ah, I see. I’ve been admitted to the pre-Psych program at other UCs so I’m now thinking the undeclared SSHA major at Merced is somewhat along the same line.

I didn’t even know you could transfer as undeclared seeing that you start your major classes your junior year, no?

Interesting.

What I’m thinking is that its the same thing as taking the lower division classes that were unavailable at your CCC before you can officially declare? I’ll contact them as soon as I can and post their answer here for others.
