I'm an Econ undergrad major at Southern Illinois U Carbondale. I live in Glenview, IL, am an incoming sophomore and would like to transfer after next year (Fall 2013 semester) to a potentially more competitive school for my major.

I am looking at a number of different colleges but of course I want to maximize my chances to go to a highly ranked/competitive school for Econ.

So far I'm looking at UW-Madison, Indiana U (Bloomington), NYU, Georgetown, Tulane, and UChicago (as a long shot).

I have a GPA of 3.63 for the first 2 semesters aggregate with a 3.85 for second semester. I can get very good recommendations from several professors, T.A.s and advisors. I got a 29 on my ACT in high school (if this is at all relevant anymore). I interview well and I'm very good at writing essays, which should help me in the app process.

Are there any great schools I am not considering that I should be?? Also, what do you think my chances are for the aforementioned schools? Help and advice are greatly appreciated! I am not picky about school location or social life.
