Transfer Advice?

I'm currently at a community college and starting my second semester. My goal would be to complete this next semester and transfer to the University of Iowa in the fall but because the application deadline is April 1st would I only have a record of my first semester completed? When I started to fill out the app it asked about my current schedule (spring semester) but will they factor those credits in with the others I've already completed? Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks.

On the application you list your spring coursework, transfer colleges consider that you will complete these courses in a satisfactory manner (at a similar level to your previous classes). You are required to send in any changes to this schedule and if you are accepted and decide to matriculate you will send a final, official transcript with spring grades. The school has the right to rescind your admission if you have not completed this coursework adequately.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response. Also since I only have a semester load of credits under my belt I would have to send in my high school act’s right? The University of Iowa says that act’s are required for transfers with less than 24 semester hours, but after spring semester completion I will have 26 semester hours under my belt.

I think they mean 24 graded semester hours, so you will probably have to send your scores.

In general, when a college talks about the number of credits you are transferring with, they mean: 1. When you matriculate and 2. units they accept.

My interpretation would be 24 by the end of sp sem, but call/email UIowa to be absolutely sure.

Thanks entomom and uofiapplicant you both have been immensely helpful. I’m going to contact admissions for the specifics about sending test scores. Once again thanks :)
