Im at an out of state community college and was just wondering what you need to transfer into Aerospace Engineering. I'll have all of the Math and Physics courses I can possibly take when I transfer, but I'll probably be missing a couple of the classes you're supposed to have like the intro engineering classes because they probably wont transfer. Is that much of a problem? Also, I will have about a 3.5 gpa. Is that gonna be good enough?

I spoke with you regarding similar items in the engineering forum, but I’ll address the issue again. It won’t be too big of a problem. You’ll need to take ENGR 111 and 112 at A&M though, they are freshman engineering classes that all engineers at A&M take. So you won’t be able to start off right away in your aerospace classes until these are completed. I think a 3.5 will probably be good enough, it really depends on how competitive the rest of the pool is. EC’s and letters of rec. would also be a great way to improve your application.

Since I would need to take engr 111 and 112, does that mean I would have to transfer into a general engineering program before I get accepted into the aerospace program, or could I transfer straight into aerospace engineering from my cc and then just complete those classes?

You can transfer straight into aerospace engineering. But, you will be admitted as a lower level student. You need to complete ENGR 111 and 112 to be promoted to “upper level” in which you will then be able to take your major sequence. I suggest contacting the engineering department about transfer equivilencies for the intro ENGR courses. For example, there is a C programming class that substitutes for ENGR 111 that I will be taking this summer.

Cool thanks. I’m actually already taking a c programming class in the fall. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope it transfers if I’m accepted.
