Transfer After Gap Year

I live in Las Vegas, NV now and I will be attending UNLV in the fall of 2013 hopefully. I was wondering after two years of attending UNLV can I take a gap year to move to California and then apply to UCLA as a transfer student and get in-state residency?
Also, what might UCLA require for a transfer student? Will they require SAT/ACT scores? Will the gap year affect my chances of getting in?

Thank you!

I don’t know about the first question specifically, but I’m pretty sure you have to live in California for a certain amount of time to obtain residence (this is going to be done during your gap year?)

As for the 2nd question, they just want your college grades and what you did during college, etc. They won’t ask for SAT scores. And I don’t think the gap year will negatively affect your chances.

I’m planning to take a gap year after one year of university (overseas) then apply to ucla as well. I’ll be also applying to a summer course to gain some credit. i hope it works out for the both of us :)

There is much more to it than just moving to California for a year. You both really should read this link very carefully.

[UCLA Registrar’s Office: Residence Classification for Tuition Purposes FAQ](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/faq/residencefaq.htm#Anchor-Who-14210)

But, all of the tuition talk should somewhat be put on the back burner. For both of you, your major hurdles will be getting accepted.
