Hi everyone! Thank you in advance for taking a minute to read this and for any help.

I started at my local community college in 2009 in order to stay close to my family and care for them - at the time my Dad had been in an accident and was on disability, my mother had a heart condition and my grandfather with diabetes, Parkinson's, dementia (and more) was living with us. Additionally, I have six siblings.

I figured staying local would enable me to help my parents while they were going through this rough patch.

I loved my classes and each semester I was usually an A student.

Then, suddenly, I became violently ill. I was breaking out in strange rashes, constantly running a fever - I had the flu for three months, even! I won't take the time to list all my symptoms, but they were many and debilitating.

On top of that, just as I was coming out of the hospital (for running a 105 fever) my Dad unexpectedly left, leaving my family penniless.

I kept going to school, doing as much as I could, but my grades began to suffer. I had to drop some classes and even obtained a few Ws. My teachers were understanding at first, but then became to become frustrated with me for being "sick" all the time.

My doctors weren't able to figure out what was wrong with me, and so I was unable to explain any kind of diagnosis to my teachers.

I ended up having to take a Semester off, because working three jobs to help my family get by while being sick was already more than I could bear.

A few months ago, I finally received a diagnosis and began treatment. It turns out I have an autoimmune disease called Lupus SLE. While every day is still a challenge, it's no longer a battle to get out of bed every morning.

My family is back on their feet enough to where I know I will be able to balance my responsibilities and working (thankfully just one job now) and going to school again.

But my question is - I want to apply to transfer to a CSU or UC.

What are my chances? My GPA is now just a 3.08, and I'm embarrassed to say that my transcripts have Ws and even two Fs on them :(

I know about academic forgiveness and so on, and will attempt to do so,
but realistically, what are my chances for transferring for the Fall of 2014?

Thank you so, so much!
