Thank you are you aloud to minor in a different college but major in the CLAS

yes, you are even allowed to double major in a different college. once again if you can meet CLAS’s 2 year requirement.

do you think that lets say i major in political science and major in accounting do you think i will be able to grad in 2 years. If i cant then i can summer classes in the summer. Also, what were you talking about the course system at UF? What do law hopeful students major in besides CLAS

political science has a very high number of applicants, thus higher gpas admitted.

no you wont graduate in 2 years, even if you get ahead now…(CLAS refused any of my upper-division courses, might be different in another college.)

from what ive heard your undergraduate major isn’t of THAT much importance if your dead-set on law school…some graduates of the college of engineering go on to law school.

but don’t take my word for it, as im no one to say what law schools look for.

(but if you do end up attending a florida CC and get awarded an AA from there…you have a good shot at the accounting program anyway, which can’t be a bad decision for law school)

well i dont live in florida and i dont want to do that so is it harder to get into the political science than accounting im confused now.

it is impossible to get into accounting without being florida resident.

it is hard to get into political science.
but if that is your only option…then it has to be.

Wuts the gps to get into political science

depends on how many they plan to admit, which we cant know.
and how many apply, and the quality of applicants, also cant know…of course many are denied and accepted with 3.5’s.

just understand thats theres tons of applicants, many of which have 3.7+ and lots with 4.0 in pre-req. courses.

theres a statistics page somewhere on ufl.edu, i will find it for ya.
(off the top of my head, 10% of instate applicants coming from universities are admitted)

Thanks…

thats a depressing statistic, its much much better for florida CC students.

What do you think my chances are rsala? 3.64 (3.7 after this fall) and 4.0 in pre-reqs. Transfer from Brevard Community College. Thanks!

Forgot to put I am trying for Political Science.

probably really good. jv.

heres that page
http://www.ir.ufl.edu/factbook/vii-01_hist.xls
http://www.ir.ufl.edu/factbook/vii-03_hist.xls

so yea, since you aren’t in college yet you can’t really predict where your gpa will fall into during the next 2 years…but to apply from out-of-state requires a GREAT gpa.

florida CC students are preferred, and just by looking at the post above this one you can see who applies, tons of political science with 4.0s.

so i guess, do well.

Dang, those charts worry me. Only 237 to Liberal Arts and Sciences?! Oh god…worried even more now! lol.

ya and like 25 to accounting.

you can also see from 2007 -> 2008, all admissions were cut in half…for obvious reasons.

another thing to note is that the people who actually decide whether your in or not is the College that you apply to, which kind of does not make sense without a policy forbidding you to change major (which there isn’t).

So…people can apply for college X and change major to college Y, assuming the student meets all pre-req. requirements and college Y accepts changes of major.

I applied to CLAS to a VERY scarce major, mathematics…3.76 gpa from university.
now i changed major to engineering.

for example im sure industrial engineering department would give admission to anyone with a 3.0 since theres only 200 students in the whole department, same goes for building construction…and environmental egn.

it does make a difference which major you apply to, do your research and see if theres another potential major besides political science… (btw im 100% sure CLAS does not let people change major within the college, you can only change out to another college)

Yeah, you can’t in CLAS. But I am dead set on doing Political Science and all that and have all the pre-reqs and everything. I will be down if I don’t get in, but get over it. Plus, I got my AA already, so I am sticking to this. Hopefully I get in like I said. Many people feel I have a good shot, but we will see. If not, off to FSU if I get in or UNF if I don’t get into FSU. It’s funny because a lot of people believe I have a good shot, but I don’t. I heard of a good amount of people getting in with 3.5 or 3.6 into Political Science. We will see!

im sure you will get in ;]

Don’t say that! Then I might have to find you if I don’t!!! (JOKING!) :P

I’m goin to try for a 4.0
