transfer after waitlisted?

Is it easier to transfer to a certain school (i.e. harvard) if you were waitlisted during freshman applications (i.e high school)? Or does it not matter at all.

Hmm...I don't know. It can't hurt though! It probably has a bit of an advantage because if you were waitlisted then you were qualified they just had too many people so if you apply as a transfer it shows your interest in the school!

Your transfer app will only be considered amongst the pool of transfers. So, your Frosh app pretty much goes to the incinerator. Could you imagine the expense of maintaining a database of all applicants these schools receive every year?

Now, if you're a 2nd year transfer then they will look at SATs and HS stats. If you are a 3rd year transfer many schools won't ask for your SAT/HS stats.

Good luck!

That is incorrect; Harvard actually retains all applicant data, whether accepted or rejected. Of course, after a certain number of years the data are destroyed, but that is far beyond the typical transfer timeline.

Rice, on the other hand, only retains the applicant's SAT scores.

I was waitlisted at UChicago as a freshman applicant (denied place on list, stupidly).

I was rejected when I applied as a sophomore transfer.

Just one situation, though.
