Transfer, AP Exams, Summer Classes

Stupid questions galore from ignorant me:

So, I'm silly. And a hopeful and aspiring transfer to UCI as an English Major. And enrolled as a Freshman at a community college. And I'm wondering if anyone can explain to me the following words, words, words:

This major does not require the completion of prerequisites for admission as a
transfer student. However, one year of lower-division writing must be completed

prior to enrolling in any UC Irvine English or Literary Journalism courses.

This is found in assist.org, the Articulation Agreement courses from transferring from CC to UCI as an English major. What do these words exactly...mean? And I'm completely serious - I look at the words and I don't want to be wrong on what I think they are, so if anyone can clarify, that would be fantastic. And I'd be uberly appreciative. Furthermore - with that, should I just focus on finishing up my gen-ed classes for this semester before working all over my transfer requisite classes?

Also - is it possible to complete any GED classes during the summer?

And another question: I just recently received my AP scores and passed three of them. Each exam certifies three units. Which totals to nine units. I was wondering if anyone knew how many of these units can be used for completing gen-ed? Sources say six. Others say all. I am lost.

Thanks all for reading - even those that just drop by - and replying. I really, really, reallllyyy appreciate it. Much gratitude.

Articulation Agreement - Agreements between a community college and a four-year college that indicates the acceptability of courses in transfer toward meeting specific degree requirements.

About your AP: At UCI, I am guessing those APs won’t count for GE. However, they will count for your IGETC which will count as a replacement for your GE. That is one loophole.

Well, as a community college student, there is no such thing as “GE.” Or if you think about this way - IGETC and GE can be used interchangeably. According to your IGETC (for your community college), you should be able to figure out which AP courses cover which part of your IGETC. They should all be able to cover some sort of requirement.

And community college is all about general education courses. So yes to that second question.
