also, is it ok to get recommendations from TAs?

I was wondering the same thing; is it frowned upon to submit a recommendation from a professor you've only known for a couple months?

yeah im not sure.....i know i can get everything else done properly: essays, grades, whatnot..

it's just this recommendation business is tricky because either A) you have to stick out in a matter of 3-4 months or B) you have to know the professor well enough

both are very hard to do and considering that im trying to transfer to wharton or harvard....ugh

a good way to get to know your professors is be yourself and ask for more! I'm getting on of my recs from a teacher in which I haven't even taken a test yet but I'm very confident in what he will have to say. I am able to have comfortable conversations about whatever AND academics and I think that is key. oh yeah, and do well in the class.

If you haven't already, read the Transfer Admissions 101 sticky thread. These topics are covered there.

Yes, it's okay to get recs from TA's. Sometimes TA's and profs collaborate on the rec, because the TA knows you more as a participant etc, and the prof may know your written work (or not). In any case, a TA can write the rec.

I'm a little confused about the idea of a 2nd semester prof writing a rec due around March 15. What do you have in mind? There is certainly nothing wrong with it, but wouldn't you only have known the prof for 6 weeks~? Or, are you thinking of a prof that you would have had first term and then continue with into the 2nd term?

For ideas on how to get to know profs well, look at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=350103, also copied on that sticky thread, I think.
