Hey guys! I applied to UChi EA, but I am almost certain that I will get rejected.

I have applied to UChi twice (2013, 2014, took a gap year) because I LOVE the core and academic rigor. My question is, if I am not accepted, can I apply as a transfer from another university after my freshman year? And would having applied twice as a freshman help?

THANK YOU!

Hi @DavidTaleb, my guess is that you can apply, and you might have an advantage because the admissions office will see that you’re exhibiting interest in the school.

HOWEVER.

I would give other schools a chance, seriously. To have your eyes set on only Chicago seems a bit short-sighted. There are so many other academically rigorous schools out there. My advice for freshmen who want to transfer without even having stepped foot on campus as a student is to really try out the school and give it your best shot. I actually wanted to transfer out of UChicago my freshman year but after giving more than a year, I realized how much I loved it. That could be the same for you at your school, if you don’t get into UChicago.

Each year will be different, but in 2012 Chicago only took 22 transfers and over 2000 applied, that is about 1% admit rate. Compare to over 10% EA admit rate just announced, transfer is lot harder.
