Transfer Applicants 2009

Fall of '09 for Biochemistry
Gonna do Carnegie Mellon (waitlisted, but they overenrolled this year), Johns Hopkins, maybe Columbia or Yale

Highly considering transferring from Michigan (LSA) for Fall 2009. Tentative list of schools:

Case Western (from Cleveland, got in as freshman applicant, should be a "safety")
NYU
Georgetown
Northwestern
UChicago
Yale (no chance, but will do it for Mom's sake.)

I really have eyes for Georgetown and NYU. The only thing with me is that I'd be applying as a junior (Class of 2011, I'm a rising sophomore now). Does that help or hurt me?

Rice, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, JHU, Duke

Fall '09 or possibly '10

Applying to UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC, UCSD and possibly some out of state privates.

I decided to apply to WashU (CAS economics), and SMU (Cox-Finance) in addition to Cornell ILR for spring 09. Might apply to NYU also.

I forgot to add that I will apply as a business/econ major for all the schools I mentioned.

I'll be applying to william & mary, uva, georgetown, and george mason.

I'm applying to Yale or Columbia for Fall 09.. For me, Yale is the only option. It is sooo my dream school. Im confused though I started college in January. Does that change anything?? Good luck to everybody.

Applying to sociology programs (focus on historical and comparative) at the following schools:

Yale College
Berkeley
Columbia
Johns Hopkins
Brown
Penn
Cornell

jemmayale2009, if yale is "the only option" you are really setting yourself up for a major disappointment. Have you seen the transfer statistics? Same could be said about columbia to a lesser extent. If you are happy at your current school then its fine, but you better apply to less selective schools if you want to transfer regardless.

I understand. But I am content at my current school. I'm really don't want to sound rude but if I put myself down and believe I won't be accepted, then what is the point of applying in the first place. Yes, I do know the transfer rate are very slim. But I believe a positive attitude can do wonders. I believe I will be accepted. Simple as that. Being pessimistic won't get you anywhere. If do I get rejected, I won't be dissapointed. I did my best. Life isn't easy. But when you fall, you're suppose to get right back up. If I'm not accepted this time, I'll try again for Yale Law. Again, please don't feel like I am being rude. I do appreciate what you said. Thank you for your concern.

Yeah, if you are content where you are at then its fine not applying elsewhere. I am transferring from a CC so for me I have to apply to some safeties just in case although none of the schools I am applying to are even close to Yale in selectivity. I understand what you mean about needing to be optimistic too, I am very optimistic about my chances at Cornell, but have backups in place (since I have gone as far as I can at my current school).

Best of luck with Yale.

Best of luck with Cornell. My friend goes there and she loves it.

Stanford, MIT and Yale

I am a rising freshman and i am already considering transferring for the Fall of 2009, i will be attending vassar next year and am quite sure i will still want to transfer this coming spring. I am think georgetown(either the college or b school) upenn wharton, cornell (ILR), Emory maybe, and yale. I have already applied to georgetown college, and yale as a freshman and like the rest of the country was given the small envelope

Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Duke, and maybe Yale for bioengineering.

Anyone know if the transfer numbers for Stanford this year are out yet?

I'll be attending Brandeis University, and even though I'm definitely going to give the place a chance, I'm also considering transferring for a number of reasons. The schools I have in mind are mainly Brown and U-Penn (and Stanford and Yale, but since those two are total crapshoots I don't really count them).

I plan on and definitely can get a 4.0 GPA my first semester, and probably keep it up second semester, so I'm hopeful that I can get in. My high school record was kind of spotty (like a 3.0 or 3.1 of all four years cumulatively), but I'm hoping I'll get lucky, plus I'm sure I can write a diamond 'Why' essay and get good recommendations. Any feedback on whether I have a legitimate shot or if I'm simply deranged?

I'm surprised you even got into Brandeis with around a 3.1. It's kinda easier said than done to get a 4.0 but if you can, then I think you have a very legitimate shot at UPenn and Brown.

Trying to apply to NYU Fall '08--Stern. Chances seem pretty bleak but it's worth a shot.
