Dear -name-

Thank you for your transfer application to New York University. We received an
overwhelming number of transfer applications for few available spots in our Fall 2006
semester. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you admission at this time.

We are offering a select number of applicants the opportunity to update their application
and be reconsidered for Spring 2007. You will not have to apply or pay the fee again,
but are required to send an updated transcript to the address below by November 1, 2006.

Please respond to this email with your name and date of birth if you would like to be
reconsidered for Spring 2007.

I'm wondering why; if I was rejected, why they're still allowing me to apply without waiting a year, paying the fee, and redoing the application?

Or is this like being waitlisted?
I'm pretty confused

That isn't a rejection letter

but they're too full right now, so you're being deferred to next spring. If you were rejected,They would have just flat out said "no"
