Godhsmooddy, see u here!

...I assume this was directed at me, and that I should read that as "see you there"? :-P

Eh, don't jynx it, man. I just got my Stanford rejection (no worries, I was expecting it). We can hope, but that's like referring to a woman as your wife before you're married to her - it's just asking for trouble :-).

haha i just got rejected from Stanford too as a transfer applicant. i'm a freshman though, so i didn't think i would get in. Columbia's decision in next and i'm really worried it comes out this Thursday (May 15) at 5:00PM ET. i really need to get into a good private school, otherwise i'm stuck between picking UCLA or UC Berkeley...

lol ucla and berkeley, thats horrible! ;)

haha berkeley is very nice.

southerncali, UCLA and Berkeley only take junior transfers. Are you at a UC right now?

yeah i graduated high school class of 2007. i'm at UCSC, and i applied to UCLA and Berkeley as a junior transfer. the UC system counts AP scores and community college credits that i took every summer before i graduated high school, so i have junior standing, well technically almost senior (120/180 quarter units), but I REALLY don't wanna graduate in 2 years...i want the full 4 year experience, which is why it would be really nice to go to a top private school that doesn't count community college credits (taken before h.s. graduation) and AP scores lower than 5.

i applied for transfer to seas

people drop out for several reasons (this list comforts me)
1. they can't pay for the school
2. they can't handle the courseload
3. they transfer to other schools like caltech/mit/berkeley
4. they screwed up and were kicked out
5. they decided to change their majors

add more, please

they want to take a few years off to "find themselves".

I just got off the phone with Columbia and they said that they are accepting only half of one student this year for transfer. Apparently, there's a housing crunch, but to stay a step above Harvard, they will be accepting half of one lucky student instead of zilch. Good luck gu/ys.

what do you mean by "half of one student"? do you mean half of one percent of applicants, in other words a 0.5% acceptance rate?
