Hey guys,

Have any transfer applicants heard back?

Coco7777777,

I too applied as a transfer student by the March 1st deadline. I have yet to hear anything. I called the admissions office at the end of March and was told my application was still under review. Very curious and anxious. Please let me know if and when you find out! I will do the same!

Best of luck.

Hi x5xist,

Thank you for your reply. I’ve been checking the mail everyday with the hopes that it’ll arrive only to find nothing. Perhaps it’s too soon to be at the checking the mail everyday stage. Hopefully the decisions will come out soon though! I will definitely let you know when I hear back. If you don’t mind me asking, what year and major are you? I’m an economics major at a small liberal arts school in Massachusetts, and I’m going to be a sophomore next year.

Coco7777777,

I have also been checking my mail daily. Guess we will just wait for the day that something comes. =)

If accepted, I am transferring in as a late sophomore with an International Studies major. I have a heavy-weight college behind me that I feel bolsters my chances, but it’s really up in the air at this point. I wanted to transfer here a while ago but never applied, so I really have a lot riding on this. Yes I have a few other schools just in case, but American is my number one.

It is kind of sad seeing various students of here saying that they just applied to see if they would get accepted, yet never had real intention of attending. Or all the students that are seemingly shocked by the expenses and deciding not to attend this fall. The high tuition has always been common knowledge. Just frustrating seeing so many “accepted” students saying that they are not attending- when their spots could have gone to serious transfer students like us.

I am currently out of town so I keep calling my mom everyday to see if anything has arrived. :P

X5xist,

American is also my top choice, so I hope that we both get in! I feel like my decision could really swing either way though.

I agree, it is relatively sad. I think a lot of top notch students use American as a safety, I know that’s what my brother did. I suppose that some students applied and hoped to receive more aid than they actually did? I don’t really know for certain though. What I do know is that the wait is most definitely the hardest part of this process. I can’t take it!

Hey there’s another American University transfer thread! Check it out
Just for reference I got admitted around the end of March and received my packet in the mail after two days. Good luck!

Auaudrey,

Thanks for letting us know about the other thread.
I applied mid-February like you did so I am surprised it’s taking this long to hear back. I also applied at the University of Maryland, where I think I saw you on that transfer thread as well. Did you hear back from that school yet? If so are you definitely going to American now that you are accepted?

Thanks and congrats!

Yep accepted! Found out this afternoon =)

@x5xist yaaay! congrats I havent heard back from UMD yet. I’m applying from CA so even if I get into UMD, paying that OOS tuition probably won’t be worth it. I applied to a variety of schools, both in state and out, so I guess I’ll just have to weigh my options when I find out how much I’m going to have to pay for AU. But I talked to my advisor at AU and she said that I wouldn’t receive my financial aid package until the end of May which sucks I’d love to go to American though! It’s definitely a top choice of mine. What about you?

auaudrey,

Thanks! I am so happy that I got accepted. Thanks for letting me know the date for the financial aid package.
AU is my top choice and I plan on attending, even if my financial aid package isn’t stellar. I will of course consider the University of Maryland if I get accepted, but I am highly favoring AU. I’ll let you know!!

Thanks for informing me about the other transfer thread auaudrey, and congrats to the both of you on getting accepted to AU. I’m still waiting to hear back, hopefully I’ll get in too. Let me know where you two decide to attend next year!

@x5xist yeah American is definitely a top contendor of mine too well keep us updated on what you decide on!

@coco no problem! I’m sure you’ll hear good news from them soon let us know when you do

Hi! Still waiting to hear back from AU. Been waiting for about 3 months now. Got my documents in since January but heard nothing so far so super worried. Saw that they updated the website and said that transfer students should hear before May3rd tho.

Ok. Just got accepted yay! Accepted as a theater major although my intention was to study audio technology. Does anyone know whether it’s possible to switch majors even as a transfer applicant?

Cposie: I’m sure it’s possible for transfer to switch majors. I would say call admissions to be sure though.

Yupp. managed to switch it up to what i wanted. Thanks @fabulous326.
Does anyone know when the deadline is for transfer students to make their enrollment and housing deposit? I’m confused as to whether its July1st or May1st.

cposie: Awesome! I need to call them as well; if I attend, I want to transfer from CAS to SIS.

As for enrollment deposit, I believe it’s a month/30 days from the date of your acceptance letter. Again, I would call to make sure.

I too am confused about this. It seems that the enrollment/housing deposit is due by July 1st, however I also read its due thirty days after acceptance notification. However, I am still waiting to receive my financial aid package before I confirm my enrollment/deposit.
May 1st is my thirty day mark, but as auaudrey said, financial aid packages are not going out until late May.
Have any other transfer students received their fin aid packages yet? Thanks.

AU is my top choice so im gonna put in my deposit sometime in the next week I guess.
@x5xist heard that financial aid packages might go out mid May and not necessarily late May.

I called the financial aid office this morning and they said they would be sending fin. aid around May 15th.
