Have any transfer applicants gotten the word? A friend has applied as a transfer student into Mech Eng, 3.8+ gpa from a 4 year school out of state.
thanks

I'm a transfer to Architecture. No word yet. I'll post if I get news, though.

Have any transfers heard yet???

I'm a transfer to architecture. Got rejected last night.

i got accepted into Mech Engineering, but i'm in the state of CA.

I just got rejected with a 3.9 gpa. I'm a community college student, and my major was business administation with a concentration in accounting. Needless to say, I'm shocked. Oh well..

How many of the required transferable courses for accounting did you finish? Like accounting classes, math, and GE's. FOr transfers, they don't concentrate too much on GPA.

zer0c123, what were your stats and what type of school are you coming from? Thanks.

two accounting courses, two calculus courses, two econ courses, igetc finished by the end of the spring. I think I did everything that was required and "desired." Even though Cal Poly isn't my first choice, I'll probably call them up and ask why I was rejected.

I'm asking because my friend applied for mechanical engineering. She completed all of the required classes and had a 3.8 gpa. We're puzzled.

I just called cal poly, but they would not want to give me a reason why I was rejected. I have a 3.5gpa with all classes done and extra ones relating to my architecture major. I am still puzzled why I was rejected.

Yea it doesn't make much sense. People keep telling me to call and ask but I already know thousands of students are also calling and that they won't give me a reason.

I got rejected on Friday. I have a 3.9gpa and all of my classes done, so I really don't know how they come up with who to accept.

I would understand if they had a personal statement. I'm suprised you didn't get in ilikespicyfood. I volunteered and worked about 20-30hours per week also. oh well...my only chance left is berk.

my gpa is 3.14 and i'm transferring from a community college in california.

Forget what i said about completing all the required classes. I was talking with a bunch of the other classmates that got accepted/rejected. The majority of the ones that got in had less than 3.5 gpa, and some were missing classes.. The lowest i heard was 2.90 i think.

Also a few were admitted to alternate majors, which they didn't really like.

I remember talking to one of engineering teachers and she said that "Caly poly is weird... I see students get in and i don't even know how they get in."

Last semester one of instructors showed me a cheat sheet of classes that cal poly uses as part of their selection into engineering. It was mostly a list of required and recommended classes, and the amount of points they are worth and points deducted if missing.
It also showed some GE classes that were worth extra points.

We don't really know if SLO still uses it, because it was given to my instructor a long time ago.

I was thinking, I probably know why we didn't or I didn't get in. I had 3 major related classes that I was finishing in fall 05 and a physics class during summer 05 when I submitted my application during Nov 05. SLO requires that we finish all the classes in spring 05.
