Have any of you transfers heard anything yet? Seems like only Freshmen have been.

I haven't heard anything yet. My status has been "under review" since 2/28. From what I hear we are gonna be the last ones to find out

My status is still at "currently reviewing". Nothing in the mail yet. We've got the long wait. :/

Wow. I applied to the Production program for the Cinema Dept, so both of my apps had to be in by Dec. 10. I turned them in on Nov. 12 and my status page has been on "under review" since Nov. 16.
So what do you guys think, will we see some Transfers being accepted in April? What about merit scholarships? I hope that I am in the running for one.

I just spoke with an admissions representative and he said that the transfer acceptance letters are going out June 1st. However on the USC website it says we will find out no later than June 1st. This is definitely confusing but a friend of mine got his acceptance letter around June 5th last year. This is gonna be a brutal wait.

pdsage10, I'm a film student as well at Columbia College but I didn't apply to their film school, my stats just aren't up to par. Best of luck to you and if you get in that's an amazing accomplishment. Which school are you transferring from?

I was wondering what exactly the status page of other transfers says. Mine:

"We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application."

I have applied to the production program in the sca as well, and my app was in by the Dec. 10 deadline. Will we really have to wait until June? This is killing me, the first years could apply later and they get their decisions earlier!

i am a current transfer student at USC. I transfered this past year and the process is a long wait. A lot of my friends are transfers and they all found out really late too I am talking about early August. June 1 you may get in but probably asked for spring grades and FAX them in. AND CALL THEM OFTEN. The wait is long but the school is def. worth it.

One more note housing will be difficult but 90+% of the transfers I know ended up getting housing even if they found out 3 days before school.

Wow, thanks a lot for the new info. I can't believe it could take up to August to hear back from them, that's insane. If I may ask dmsurft101, when did you hear back from USC? Also considering that you know a lot of other transfer students, what seems to be the average admitted GPA between you guys? Also what type of college did you transfer from? I don't mean to be intrusive but any info would be a great help. Thanks.

Wow, June 5th?! SIR's for "the other schools" are due on June 1st. What do you do in that kind of situation?

Also, just letting you guys know, we have a 60+ page thread with fellow USC-hopeful transfers going on in the Transfer forum... http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/384934-usc-fall-08-transfers.html

The whole process is lame but trust me when I say it pays off to stick with it. I committed to UCSB but then when I got housing at USC I told UCSB sorry and lost out on the $200 commitment fee. Sucks but oh well.

I took the long road to USC. I am from San Diego and out of hs first went to the Univ. Washington for 2 quarters then California JC for 3 semesters. I had a 3.91 transfer GPA with 64 units and now have a 3.75 at USC in the Marshall School so you can still get a good GPA at SC. Oh and if you look at housing website most transfers live in these dorms: Troy Hall (East), Founders, Annenberg House, Sierra, Regal Trojan just if you want to look at the options.

I would say majority of transfer students are doing either of two things.
1). Are majoring in econ right now but want to get into Marshall. or
2). Are in Annenberg doing communications. My friends stats very from exceptional to average and it reflects in their GPA at USC. They are all smart kids and from a range of schools from ASU, UND (North Dakota),NY CC's, Columbia College, SDSU, USD. But the one similar thing was the wait time it took to here back.

I was admitted straight into Marshall but that was because I did all my econ, ld writing courses, and calc before I transfered in. Granted the transfer process did put me a semester behind in graduation. Good luck if you want anything else just ask I was in your position last year and understand.

I just spoke to the admissions office a couple days ago and they told me around mid June. Pretty long wait.

Going by last year, alot of transfers will start getting spring grades request as early as this month. When you get one of those you'll have to wait until your semester or quarter is over. So really, you won't know until around June at the earliest in most cases. The rest of the admits should start rolling out as early as this month through May. I know the engineering applicants started to hear on Monday (3/31). Good luck all!
oh, btw ~ dmsurft101 , thanks for sharing info!
