Transfer Application Questions

I am currently a first semester freshman at another university in Atlanta. I want to transfer into the Mechanical Engineering program at Tech for Fall 2013. I currently have a 4.0 a little past the midpoint of the semester and plan to keep it that way. I will have 17 credit hours completed by the end of the fall semester plus 7 AP credit hours. The only required course that I will not have completed by the time I apply is Chemistry, but I am taking it next semester.

My question is, will they hold off on giving me an admission decision until they see the grade from that Chemistry course and have officially completed 30 hours, or will they let me know within 3-5 weeks after I turn in my application and materials? I don't want to get stuck in freshman housing and would also not like to spend my entire spring semester stressed about my admission. If it helps, I'm also a girl ha.

Thanks guys!

i believe u have to have a minimum of 30 credit hours to transfer…just try and google “ga tech transfer admission” and it will tell you. Sorry if im wrong. But please do check.

haha thanks, but trust me i’ve googled all of the information that it is possible to know without some inside guidance.

I have to have completed 30 hours by the document deadline, which will be June 1, 2013. At that point I will have approximately 40 hours completed, and all of the required courses completed. My question is whether they will make the admissions decision right after I apply or after they receive my spring transcript, which would push the decision back by several months and make it very hard for me to apply for housing.

They won’t make a decision until after you’ve submitted your transcript from the Spring.
