Transfer Application Received: Need some help from admitted transfers

Alright, I have a couple of questions for people who have gone through this process before. I just got an e-mail today from the College of Engineering with my UM-ID and checked Wolverine Access for the first time. When I click application status, the link goes to a page that says "Application is Complete." If I click on "view credentials" it shows all my submitted transcripts.

First, I was curious what timeframe I'm looking at from this point until decisions tentatively start coming for transfers? Also, I'm wondering if I should submit my actual SAT test score because it does show the breakdown on my high school transcript. I know transfers aren't required to submit, and I really don't want to because it was not that impressive when I took it way back when... I guess since it says "application is complete" I don't really need to worry too much about it, but I was wondering if anyone else has suggestions?

Just for anyone else wondering when they'll get an e-mail, I submitted my transcripts and letters of recommendation in mid-July and sent the common app the beginning of August.

The admissions officers said that in theory, someone could receive an admission after 2 weeks of the admissions office receiving all material. That’s the quickest they can process an application.

Yeah, but do they really do that for transfers? I talked to them and they said to call in October to attempt to be reviewed quicker, although my case is unique in that I need a decision before a certain timeframe because I’ll be at my expiration of military service prior to the normal decision dates. If I find out before December I’ll be good, but anything after that will be cutting it really close.

I really doubt I’ll get any decision before November because all the winter applicants need to be processed and of course all the EA people will be looked at, but still that seems like such a long wait!

I asked specifically for transfers, she said yes it was possible, however I was asking for winter transfer so it could possibly be different for fall transfer.

When I transferred to LSA from a CC two years ago, I applied in January and received my acceptance two week later. So it DOES happen, though I don’t know if the COE would be different. I wouldn’t hold your breath for getting it that fast, but it could happen!

Last year I applied mid-august as a transfer student. I received my acceptance late October.

sneakerhead- did you apply as a winter transfer?

Yeah, I’m assuming if you applied in January then you should get a decision fairly quickly if you had all the required material submitted.

@ Sneakerhead, I was wondering the same thing - did you apply fall or winter? If I get a decision in October I would be ecstatic! I’ll probably give them a call the first week of October to make sure they didn’t forget about me, then call again in November if I haven’t heard anything from them. I definitely don’t want to seem like I’m pestering them because there’s many more applicants that they need to go through.

Transfer applications are reviewed differently than freshman applications. The process takes approximately 2 weeks to 1 month from the date the file is complete. Only certain advisors can review the transfer apps, so it is understandable that their workload is a bit more. Don’t be surprised if you start getting transfer credit evaluations before hearing a decision. You get one of those, and the acceptance letter is close behind.

How do you know when they complete credit evaluations; do they send an email or something?
