Transfer Application Winter 2018 Mistake?

Background: Current UM-Dearborn Junior with about 58 credits and a 3.98 GPA. I applied to UM-Ann Arbor once before and got in for my sophomore year but couldn’t attend due to financial reasons. I am finally stable and able to attend and so am applying once again.

So I have submitted more than one recommendation/ instructor evaluation as a part of my winter 2018 application to transfer. I submitted my application September 26. Will this hinder my chances completely? Has anyone made this mistake and can this be used against me? I submitted 3 :frowning: (All three were really strong, one from a graduate student at UM-Ann Arbor, one from a UM-Dearborn professor, and one from an employer. How big of a mistake did I actually make?

What exactly was the mistake?

@Bioinformagics The transfer application page on Umich states that they really only want one rec letter (even that is optional). I ended up submitting three since common application allows you to do so. I want to know how negatively that is going to impact me?

For LSA or what? Either way I’m sure the worst case is they only consider one of them, and ignore the rest.

@Bioinformagics LSA transfer Winter 2018, I am a current junior. Applied to the Data Science program in LSA

I wasn’t aware of the rule, I would’ve sent more than one if I thought it would’ve helped me. I guess I’m lucky I didn’t, but I’m sure a lot of people send more than one. The common app didn’t specify this, so I bet a lot of people miss this rule. I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you.

I applied for winter 2018 as a junior as well. We should be finding out soon. Good luck!

Even after searching I can’t seem to find that rule…

@Bioinformagics Thanks! Good luck to you too. The wait officially begins. Where are you hoping to transfer from? If you don’t mind me asking.

@akk987 UM-Dearborn as well

@Bioinformagics nice! assuming you applied for the lsa bioinformatics major correct?

That’s correct, what gave it away? :open_mouth:
