Background: Current UM-Dearborn Junior with about 58 credits and a 3.98 GPA. I applied to UM-Ann Arbor once before and got in for my sophomore year but couldn’t attend due to financial reasons. I am finally stable and able to attend and so am applying once again.
So I have submitted more than one recommendation/ instructor evaluation as a part of my winter 2018 application to transfer. I submitted my application September 26. Will this hinder my chances completely? Has anyone made this mistake and can this be used against me? I submitted 3 (All three were really strong, one from a graduate student at UM-Ann Arbor, one from a UM-Dearborn professor, and one from an employer. How big of a mistake did I actually make?
@Bioinformagics The transfer application page on Umich states that they really only want one rec letter (even that is optional). I ended up submitting three since common application allows you to do so. I want to know how negatively that is going to impact me?
I wasn’t aware of the rule, I would’ve sent more than one if I thought it would’ve helped me. I guess I’m lucky I didn’t, but I’m sure a lot of people send more than one. The common app didn’t specify this, so I bet a lot of people miss this rule. I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you.
I applied for winter 2018 as a junior as well. We should be finding out soon. Good luck!
