Transfer Application

No Essay or portion for your extra-circulars on the application?
What's up with that?
I'm transfer student (OOS) have a 3.37 with a massive upward trend 74 credits including remedials. President of a club and all I get to report is my gpa. Would you guys recommend sending in like a resume or something? I feel like my application is so bland without it.
I feel kind of wary about sending in more than asked.

Sorry that came off like I was complaining, didn’t mean it like that. I should’ve worded it, why is there no portion for an essay and ECs?

I felt the same way when I was applying. It felt a little bare and non personal without the essay. Most schools didn’t seem to require one. I think Albany did. It was one less thing I needed to do anyway. I would have your school send any awards or honors you got, and extracurriculars you have participated in with your transcript. Or maybe send something in yourself if you are doing it by mail. I made sure my school put down some honor society thing I got into so I had a little extra besides just my grades, and since it assumingly made this faceless applicant look slightly better.

Good luck

That’s a good, legitimate question. It certainly doesn’t hurt to send in extra stuff, but the reason we don’t specifically require that stuff for transfers is because your postsecondary grades tell us 99% of whether you’re capable of handling university-level work. If you have 74 credits and a 3.37 GPA, especially with an upward trend, you’re admissible. It’s not a matter of essays at that point.

Hi, I’m also looking to transfer for next spring. I want to ask, if its only a matter of credits and capability of upholding a 3.0+ gpa with said credits, what would happen in the case of excessive transfer applicants who are admissible? Is there anything I can do to increase my chance against other applicants, or would that never be the case?

I was hoping you’d respond to this Chris! Do I just mail my stuff to the admissions office and they know where to put it as long as my name is on it?

Also thank you for your response!

Also a good question, Inquiry. In that case, it’s more a matter of time than anything else. Once we’re full of qualified applicants, we’ll close the class; so I’d get your stuff in as soon as you can and trust that the process will work.

As far as where to send stuff, the address is on the admissions page, yes.
