Transfer application

I'm hoping to transfer for Spring 2011. I am actually supposed to be a senior at this point and have 100 credits so far. I attended Indiana University as a freshman and changed from liberal arts to a music major (voice) in my second semester. Last year, I transferred to Manhattan School of Music, but I've finally decided that a well-rounded education is more valuable to me than refined musical skill. I can essentially refine my operatic skills while also obtaining an education, which is why I have decided to switch majors altogether.

Unfortunately, now that I had transferred to a school specifically for musical study, I do not have any other degree programs to choose from rather than the Bachelor of Music. For the current semester, I'm taking courses in Philosophy (my intended major at RU), Linguistics, and Anthropology at Montclair State University (I need to fulfill more gen eds thanks to my music major). My GPA from all of my coursework at IU and MSM is a 3.5 and the majority of my grades are in A range. My high school GPA was 3.67 and my SATs were 1200 on the 1600 scale, 1890 on the 2400. Though RU does not require these, I'm wondering if I should send them, because they are within safe range for Rutgers. I also have done a lot of rescue animal fostering over the past three years, which is about as much volunteer time I could possibly handle.

Most importantly, my grades for the majority of the liberal arts and general education courses I have taken in college are within A range. I'm hoping that my double transfer is not seen as a red flag, but who knows?

Is anyone else here trying to transfer to Rutgers for January admission? I've just submitted my application and will now anxiously await my destiny, so to speak. It would be nice to hear whether anyone else has an interesting college history.

Also, does anybody know whether Rutgers offers single rooms in their residence halls? Moreover, are any of the residence halls equipped with useable kitchens? I cannot eat on meal plan whether they force us into it or not. I have spent too much time cooking over the past 3 years. Living with a roommate would actually be fine with me, but in the event I was able to choose a single, I think I would.

I'm looking forward to hearing from others.

I’m transferring in as a freshman for spring 2011!

Did you get your admissions decision yet?!

I think you’ll be fine.

Most residence halls have working kitchens, however they are usually in varying states of cleanliness. Single rooms are available, but I think they’re only on Livingston. If I were you, I’d try and go for an apartment either on or off campus.

Nope! they keep it on file until my grades and credits from the community college I am currently attending come out, which is in december. They then give their decision a week after. Depending on your specific case, since you have 100 credits and only need 12 to be considered a transfer, you might be notified sooner! keep checking your online status at the website.
