Hey guys
I was doing some research and I just found out that if I am to transfer to UMass Amherst as a junior, I need to declare my major in order to be admitted (All transfer students entering as juniors are also required to declare a major and then be admissible to that major in order to be accepted to UMass Amherst.)
Does this mean that I have to have my major declared from my current school, or can I declare my major as I am applying?

Also, I have around 60 credits right now, but I do not know if they will accept all of these credits. Would I be considered a Junior with these circumstances?

Most likely this means that you’d have to declare a major while applying. Majority of colleges won’t let transfers apply as Undeclared.

Typically, you do not have to declare your major at your current school (although you may choose to do so because you have to or find it advantageous at your current school in case you do not transfer) in order to transfer. The target school just cares what major you want to declare there (which may not even exist at your current school, particularly with transfer applicants at community colleges).
