Transfer as a Linguistics Major?

I'm going to a community college in Jan. and I am thinking about transferring to a four year not next year but the year after. I am thinking about going to a UC since I live in California. But I am also thinking of applying to other private universities. My question is has anyone transfered from a community college and into a 4 year college and majored in Linguistics.
I would like any advice from anyone, but mainly from linguistic majors and people who have transferred.

My top UC's are:
Santa Cruz
Santa Barbara
San Diego
LA

Private:
USC
NYU
Penn

Penn has a great linguistics program. What are your stats?

I have not started my community college yet, so I do not have any college stats to show.

But I graduated in 2009
my gpa was a 2.9
ACT: 21
SAT
Reading: 500
Math: 520

I was accepted to four cal states and one of out state school, and the University of San Francisco, but due to my dad I had to stay home and take a semester off.

I was just wondering is it possible to transfer to a private four year or UC as a linguistics major from a community college.
