Is it possible to transfer between Trinity College and Pratt School? Is so, is it esay to do so. I can't decide where my interests may lie after studying for a while at Duke. So if now I apply to one of these schools, can I transfer to the other?

Yes. It is very possible and fairly easy to do. It makes more sense to apply to Trinity though.

I'd say if you think you might want to do engineering, then at least take some pratt classes freshmen year like the intro EGR53 which is required for all engineers. That way, if you do decide to switch, you won't be overwhelmed with coursework.

Note: you don't need permission to take pratt classes if you are in trinity.

If your math and science scores are strong, i.e. > 750 each, then admission to Pratt is less capricious.

Thanks. But wobudong, I notice that pratt school admit just a fraction of the whole population. Won't the competition be cutthroat intense?

Pratt is a fraction because engineering apps are a fraction. Pratt's admission standards are more objective than Trinity's. It is true that math and science scores for most engineers at Duke are in the top quartile, if that is what you mean by intense competition. But if you have the academic credentials, the profs at Pratt will trump the folks on the admissions committee who look for soul mates.
