@transfernyc let me know if you have any questions about Penn. What do you want to study? Penn and Brown have many differences so you should think where you would fit in best.

accepted. is there a transfer Facebook group?
Waitlisted but I already got into my top choice so I’m probably removing myself from the waitlist.
Hate to be the person hijacking a thread that doesn’t really apply to me, but… I’m a current first year considering applying to Brown as a transfer next year, and I would like to know my chances.

Also, really sorry to all the people who got rejected. I feel that pain and I have been following this thread for awhile, so it’s really hard to see so many qualified applicants not get in.
Congrats to those who did get in, of course!
Accepted for spring admission! I am super excited, but also somewhat torn. I am thinking it would be great to take a semester off to work, travel, or take classes at my current school (there are so many things I still want to take here). Brown was my first choice for transferring, but I also was accepted to Yale and UPenn (and other schools I wasn’t considering as strongly). I didn’t really expect to have all of these options, and I am now also considering staying at my current school where they’ve told me I could basically tailor my major to my interests (previously, a substantial reason for wanting to transfer was that I felt restricted by the major requirements that didn’t really fit my educational goals). I am definitely most excited about Brown’s culture and community (as well as proximity to RISD) and that everyone is crafting their own educational paths and interests. But I don’t really know what to do!
@womb4t congrats! It’s definitely a tough decision. I was rejected from Brown, but was accepted to Penn, Columbia and Yale. I’d say choose for fit! Columbia is out for me bc of how restrictive it’s curriculum is, and between Penn and Yale, Yale has more flexible distribution requirements (in my opinion). I’ve also read that Yale students are among the happiest in the Ivy League, and that really sold me bc I’ve been super unhappy and borderline depressed at my current school. But Brown students are definitely a close second in terms of happiness I’d assume. Just don’t choose for the name! Choose based on where you’ll be the happiest and where you’ll enjoy yourself the most, because that’s where you’ll thrive. Good luck deciding!
Has anyone emailed them to reply to the wait list yet? Did they respond?
hey, what did everyone’s waitlist letter say? mine seemed personalized but that seems highly unrealistic so I’m curious
Hey I was accepted for spring enrollment even though I’ll be entering as a first semester junior. Does anyone know what my chances are for being switched to fall enrollment? Dying to go to Brown but not looking forward to wasting a semester doing nothing
Apparently you can check here for when the admissions package will arrive in the mail to your house

just have to make an account.
Does this work for anyone else?
@ajdavis hey can you explain that lol. I didn’t get a tracking # so how will i be able to check ?
@df0914 thanks so much for the thoughtful advice! I’m sorry that Brown didn’t work out for you, but you certainly have fantastic options. And it’s definitely a good idea to think about your happiness going forward. I am also really thinking about where I’d be happiest as my current school is a pretty depressing/stressful place. I think I will need to learn more about what courses I’d need to take at all schools and probably visit the campuses and try to get a sense of what people are like.
Does anyone know if our previous GPAs transfer or if it is only based on courses at Brown?
@womb4t yeah that’s exactly what I’m doing! Because figuring out how many classes you’ll have to take and what kind of classes they’ll be is going to seriously define your college career (at least I think it will for me). And also campus vibe is super important.
Brown transfer rate is 4%.
@ricchh for this year? How do you know
has anyone gotten off the wait list yet? I emailed them a few days ago and I got a confirmation that they’ll put my name on the waitlist but i have yet to hear anything from them…maybe they’ll start taking people off after june 1st when people have to put their deposits in for most colleges and universities?
good luck to you all!
Anyone know when are deposits due??
