*Transfer Brown 2017*

@madisonj643

I don’t your situation entirely but from the Brown admissions website:

“Brown requires that transfer applicants submit the results of either the SAT or the ACT when they apply. This applies to both domestic and international applicants. Only one group of applicants are permitted to apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores: American citizens or U.S. permanent residents applying from domestic community colleges, junior colleges or two-year colleges.”

Therefore, unless you are coming from something like a community college and a legal resident of the USA, you are REQUIRED to submit test scores. If you cannot submit those test scores because you are international and it is not offered in your area then you REQUIRED to submit TOEFL or the IELTS:

" If you are applying to Brown from a country that does not provide access to SAT or ACT testing centers then you are required to submit the results of the TOEFL or the IELTS when you apply."

So if you fall into the category of not being required to submit then you will be fine. However, it is recommended that you submit them anyways:

“Although domestic applicants from community colleges, junior colleges and two-year colleges are allowed to apply without submitting SAT or ACT results, these applicants fare better in our admission process if they do submit the results of those tests. Per year Brown typically admits three or fewer transfer applicants who have not submitted the results of either the SAT or the ACT.”

Personally though, I would not submit it if you did poorly on it…

@RickMedeiros im still waiting for the sat score that will be available on april 13th and will send it with rush score service. At this point I’m kind of hopeless lol

@madisonj643 Do not discourage! Admissions officer are actually nicer than you think! Did you indicate on your common app application that you will sending them? If not, I’d recommend sending them an email so they can expect it…

hope you all are getting your stuff in! fingers crossed for all of us… all my stuff has been submitted but im curious how you guys are keeping sane in the coming weeks? I find myself checking this thread wayyyy too often… lol… what are you guys predicting will be decision day?

@madisonj643 Did you take the SAT again? They won’t accept scores past the January session

@nottodaycc hahaha literally everyday I check it! I know it comes out May 15th but doesn’t stop me from logging into self-service and checking if anything has changed (I do this for all the schools I applied too though)…

@lexluther96 whattt?? i contacted the admission via email and they said its okay…

Has anyone been accepted yet?

@madisonj643 That’s great! But so weird… Every other school I’ve applied to won’t accept scores past the January session. At least that’s what’s posted on their websites.

@lexluther96 have u got accepted?

i mean brown’s website did not mention anything about it

I was able to find myself in the directory at Brown, but I’m not sure if that means anything. I’m pretty sure Brown’s a long shot for me because I applied for FA.

Are your names popping up when you search for yourself on the wiki people page?

Ya, I pop up

@lexluther96 @under32graduate crap, me too. What is this list- like can you find students there right now on it? It might just be because we all applied.

@under32graduate what are your basic stats?

yeah, i found myself on there as well. I guess all applicants show up

Hmm I’m thinking that the students are those with listed emails, and that those without them are applicants

Can anyone access Canvas? I can’t, but trying to showed me that I have a Brown email…? Or at least an “@brown.edu” link with my name attached… Link: https://www.brown.edu/gateway/current-students

I remember this coming up last year in the RD thread. Everyone’s names came up and we could even see class names (for scheduling) and stuff. Didn’t indicate anything

@VaishS I figured. Thanks!

was there anything that ever did indicate acceptance? besides the change from fall to spring for those accepted for spring?
