transfer, chance me please

<p>trying to apply for fall 2009</p>

<p>british asian (my parents are indian, i was born in the US, but raised in the UK, i have both american and british passports)</p>

<p>currently a political science/ philosophy major at george washington university
spent 1 year n a half at the university of new mexico and this is my first semester at gwu (i dont like it thats why i'm trying to transfer) </p>

<p>my gpa is 3.86
ACT: 29</p>

<p>i take a full class load (18 credit hours) as well as hold jobs during school
i try and take upper level classes (especially upper level phil classes) </p>

<p>ecs:
committee member of hindu soc. at high school
developed a green recycling project for a community service project
debate team
various campus newspapers, columnist, reporter
founded, edited and wrote for my own newsletter</p>

<p>have a weird story - lived in london for 19 years, moved to new mexico where i lived on a fringe town on the border of the largest native american reservation, then moved to DC when i got into GWU. (not your average british asian) </p>

<p>i'm applying for philosophy as a transfer student, but i'm intending to double major in philosophy and politics</p>

<p>from what i understand Columbia is a reach for me.

<p>Where did you go to high school? UK or US? If UK, do you have A-levels? Your high school credentials do still count, so could we get a fuller picture of those? What don’t you like about GW and how will Columbia be different? The most compelling reasons for transfer admissions are academic reasons–what are they? Also, professor recommendations are much more important than your high school teacher ones were when you originally applied to college. Can you count on absolutely first-rate ones. It’s really, really difficult to get into Columbia as a transfer–good luck to you.</p>
