really you think so? I remember last year on the davis decision thread someone got in with a 2.9 & when I was accepted they told me I just had to maintain a 2.8 for spring semester.

I honestly think he will for sure get into UCR too.

Actually that GPA is a bit low for state schools too these days. Competition is tough these days. Your friend may get into one or two of the state schools though if he/she has good extra curriculars or worked a lot while going to school. Don’t forget essays play a role as well.

I live very very close to Sac State and it’s just way too saturated. I am in one of the most populous CCs in norcal and it’s a huge feeder to Sac State. They are actually for once raising their requirements because they seem to accept nearly everyone. In return, parking is a huge pain, people are not graduating on time, and there is a huge saturation of degrees coming out of Sac State. Thank god UC Davis has some standards.

Tell your friend to stay an extra year, get his GPA above 3.0, TAG and then get into Davis (If he gets rejected this year). This is exactly what I did. I came very close to transferring to Chico State (much better than Sac State) but decided to stay an extra year, bring my GPA up, and TAG to Davis(approved).

UCSC, UCSB and Cal Poly are also great schools. Tell him not to overlook those either but seriously consider transferring to a good UC (Davis, SB, SC) or a good CSU (SLO, Pomona). Just my 2 cents.
