Familial ties: Well..my father went to Yale but don't think that means anything...
Ethnicity: fully asian and ultra proud

What makes me different:
Hmm. Well I write hilarious weekly stories on a website (hosted by my professor) about CSU Chico news, I compose acapella medleys for my Barbershop Quartet, choreograph dance for my hiphop team, I am probably the only cheerleader on the west coast that can build a computer from scratch

Remember. Be honest! And critical. Harsh. But not too mean.

I know that Chico is known for being a party school and a joke...which is mainly why I'm leaving. I can't stand the constant beer and partying here, it's crazy! Not to mention people can't tell the difference between Huckabee and McCain in the election. No. But really the reason I'm transferring is because I want to make a difference in a college and Chico just won't take me seriously enough because they're constantly drunk. I just have to leave.

Forgot to mention that I’m also studying abroad in China my sophomore year. Perhaps it makes as a plus for the admissions board?

Thanks for any critique!

I do not understand… are you a freshman or sophomore?

Also, how does studying abroad in China will work with transferring to other school?

UCLA - match
NYU College of Arts and Science - depends on major but match bc sat scores/nyu’s focus on quantitative aspects
Columbia College (my reach school) - you’re right, reach, but i think if you have a compelling essay you have a shot
University of Rochester - in

I’m a freshman and will be a sophomore next year when studying abroad to China. My highschool GPA was pretty low…so I hope they don’t really take that into account…

i have around the same stats as u.. but high school GPA is a bit higher.. wonder how my chances at CAS are.

impressive that you’re taking organic as pol sci… that’s got to look good that you’re versatile

How come you are not applying to any other schools? Your stats are impressive.

Your stats are incredible, except your HS GPA is a tiny bit low for CAS. If you were a junior transfer I’d say you’re in everywhere but Columbia. I agree with what Jay1020 said, but if you don’t get in to those schools as a sophmore, it would be criminal for you not to try again as a junior.

NYU does rolling admissions, so remember to apply early.

Best of luck. :)
