Hi, I currently go to Boise State University and am majoring in Applied Mathematics and minoring in CS. I had a rough freshman and sophomore year, but a good junior year. Anyways, I wanted to try to transfer closer to home (hopefully UGA). If UGA accepted all of my credits, I would have a 3.06 transfer GPA as a Junior, what do you all think my chances are of getting into UGA as a transfer student? I can't say I can chance you back (how could I if I'm asking for people to chance me haha).

Bumppppppp

Bumppppppp

You should get accepted in my opinion. 3.06 with an applied mathematics major and a CS minor is nothing to laugh at, those are pretty much the most difficult studies around.

Georgia has an acceptance rate around 60% so you should be golden. Enjoy UGA, great school, great town, great athletics, great social scene.

They say they don’t look at transfers based on your major, but they say they look at transfers based on space availability in the college within the university. Isn’t this kind of a conflicting argument?

So what that means is that they won’t have “quotas” (I use that term cautiously) when it comes to how many of “major X” they will allow into the university. However, this may not be true if their is a business program or another competitive major/college within the university.

The space availability means that they will admit only as many as they need to fill the spots of students who have either dropped out or transfered, or left the university for whatever reason. Because it’s a state school, they normally have large amounts of these kind of students thus require higher acceptance rates for transfers in order to compensate.
