Transfer chance?

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering what my chances were as a transfer student. One of my life goals is to win a nobel prize and when I visited Yale I felt like it was the school that could provide me with an undergrad education that would bring me one step closer. Other schools I was prospecting were Dartmouth, Harvard, University of Chicago and Columbia; any guesstimates for those colleges would be much appreciated as well!

college GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2300
Subject Tests
Bio: 730
Literature: 780
Math 1: 750

Other info:
Deferred for 2 years prior to attending my current college to do service work, character development and leadership training.
Currently the freshman representative for SGA
Highly likely to become President of SGA sophomore year
Founded the 1st Honors society at my college, Georgia Gwinnett College (It's new)
I am also a URM (mixed) and I hear that has some leverage when it comes to admissions.

Any input would be great! Thank you!

You seem to have solid credentials so appear to be viable. However, as you may know, the accept rate for transfers is painfully low due to the small no. of available spots. Best of luck to you.

Agree with T26E4, your stats are within range of being a competitive candidate, however beyond that it’s impossible to predict what Y is looking for in a transfer student.

Harvard stopped taking transfers a couple years ago. If this policy is still in place, your chances at Harvard aren’t very good!

Keep your GPA up. Test scores will be much less important for someone who is transferring as a junior. Use the search function on College Confidential to look at previous Yale transfer posts. The commentary might interest you.

^^A month or two ago H announced that it is taking transfers for fall 2010.

Thanks everyone, this has been helpful.

I found a pretty good Ivy league Transfer post on CC. I’ll post it below for anyone else who is also looking to transfer in the future.
