I applied to the College of Education K-6 at UT. I keep going back and forth between being confident about my chances and being sure that I'll never get in. I know I won't find out until May but if anyone has any opinions for or against my chances, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a transfer student with 53 credits from ACC.
GPA: 3.56
No ECs.
Essays are strong but probably not the best they'll read.
A little bit of volunteer work at a preschool.

I tried to take coursework that might help me stand out. Most people I knew took Bio for their science credits, I took Astronomy. Most of my friends took Spanish for language credits, I took Latin. I've been feeling like taking them might hurt me even though I always thought they'd help.
I don't know. I think I'm stressing too much and I just need to sit back and wait...if anyone has an idea of my chances (good or bad), I'd really like to hear what you have to say.

you should have a decent shot, but just apply to some other schools just incase

Thank you for such a quick reply, pierrechn! I didn’t even have time to refresh the page haha.

I have applied to other schools (knowing that UT isn’t a sure thing for me at all), but I’m still really hoping to get in.

Yea i think their are other transfer threads on here, so it may help if you read those as well

i’m pretty sure you’re in

Maybe33 i am in the same boat as you. my gpa is 3.7 and my essays are strong to my opinion, but i dont have any volunteer work. i just got out of the navy so i hope that replaces the lack of community service. good luck to you and i hope we hear from them soon.

Good luck to you, parrag86…I’m sure the Navy will look good on your resume!

I got in Economics last fall with a 3.5. I’m pretty sure you will get in. I would only worry if your GPA is below 3.5.

I think you were borderline of being accepted, but the fact that you don’t have any ECs and not many volunteer hours, hurt you a lot…

My impression has been that admissions really look for education majors. I got into COLA with a 3.48 so I have faith in you.
