What would be my chances of transferring from NC State to chapel hill after my freshman year?
College GPA: 3.6 (predicted)
HS GPA Weighted: 4.43
Class Rank: I don’t know my exact rank yet, as my school hasn’t released Final Grades yet. But probably around 120ish/565. So definitely top 25%
HS GPA Unweighted: 3.65
ACT: 32 (English 34, Math 32, Reading 32, Science 31)
HS ECs: News Editor on school paper, leadership position in Service Club, member of several other service clubs.
College ECs: Pre-Law Club, Service Clubs, Club Flag Football
Don’t really know if I want to transfer, but I’m just curious as to what my chances would somewhat be like if I do what I plan to do my first year.
Hello, I’d like to point out something regarding transferring. I transferred to UNC from a CC in Charlotte, and they did not take into consideration my high school work, considering I was accepted lol. I believe, but don’t quote me on this, that they take in consideration only the college work from your previous institution. I heavily underperformed in high school, but got my act together in CC and transferred in with around a 3.8 or so. Made for a strong application essay actually! I think the essay is super important for UNC. They’re very into hearing your individual and personal story, and take it very seriously it seems. Transferring within the UNC school system is a breeze too in regards to transfer credit acceptance. Best of luck!
Hi there!
As a North Carolinian, I would like to point out the transfer acceptance rate is around 35%. The average undergraduate gpa was 3.74, and the SAT was around 1210-1450. I think that your ACT places you at a good level, but I would recommend doing one more semester of community college to save money and also to raise your GPA.
UNC Chapel Hill is a good school and they truly put in effort to see if you’re the right fit for it, as I know in high school a lot of my friends applied and got either accepted or denied based on their applications alone. I think that as long as you have a strong essay and better GPA, you should get in. Good luck!
