currently i am a freshman at the university of miami majoring in biomedical engineering. my reason for transferring is not that i do not like the school it is just that the engineering department is pretty weak, not even in the top 100. the only reason i went here is because i couldn't turn down the scholarship i was offered.

i am applying to transfer to case western reserve university, university of virginia, boston university and vanderbilt university

my high school stats were
UW GPA-4.3isj
W GPA-3.98
class rank-1/345
ACT-30
received IB diploma and had good EC's

my college GPA after first semester was 3.94

any thoughts on my chances??
also how likely is it to get a scholarship as a transfer, i know virginia does not give scholarships but what about the rest?

I don't know if Case gives scholarships to transfers, but I do know they are generally generous with freshmen. I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same with transfers. I think you can get into Case...Did you apply as a freshmen there though? Not that it makes a difference...just whether you got a scholarship or not.

If you were already accepted at any of the schools you mentioned, then you can probably get in by explaining that you originally couldn't turn down the money at the Univ of Miami, but have since reconsidered your decision.

I agree with Sachmoney. I currently go to Case, and though I cannot comment on transfer scholarships, I've seen them be quite generous with both merit and financial aid. Put another way, I am one of only two people I know paying full cost (~$47K).
