Transfer Chances and More

<p>Transfering for fall 2007.
HS GPA - 2.3
Virginia Community College GPA - 3.7 after 2 years
Old Sat - 1160
Asian Male residing in Northern Virginia (Fairfax County)
Planning to Double Major in Economic and Philosophy.
Schools applying to - JMU, Virginia Tech, UMD - College Park, William and Mary, UVa, Georgetown</p>

<p>I want to know...
- Is my GPA is competitive for any of these schools.
- Will it be in my best interest if I take the new SATs?
- How is the Economic and Philosophy department in any of these schools.
- How difficult is it to double major Economics and Philosophy in these schools that I'm applying to. Do I have to just major in one and minor in the other?
- Any other schools I should be looking at that are easy to transfer into and at most 200 miles from Washington D.C?
- How good are the financial aid for transfer students in these schools?</p>

<p>Yes for JMU, VTech, UMD, maybe W&M. Not really for UVA, and no for G-Town.</p>

<p>really? not even for instate? i didn't think it would be this hard =(</p>

<p>I think your GPA is competitive for any of them, but it is only one component. Your recs could make a big difference.</p>

<p>For any which require the SATs, I think it's worth your while to re-take (even tho I HATE the whole SAT thing). Send your current scores first if you are uncertain how the new try will pan out. Then if they're better, you can send them. If not, don't re-send.</p>

<p>bump...........</p>

<p>you're under the transfer agreement fot VT, UVA, W&M, and you have a great shot for U-Md and g'Town</p>

<p>Great shot for Georgetown?</p>

<p>bahh, meant to say reach for g'Town...they're private so they'll look at your HS/SAT, and those arnt really up to par
UMd is a great shot, because they wont pay much (if any) attention to your HS/SAT...although, College Park, which i assume is where you're applying to, will be harder than the other campuses as for as OOS status goes</p>

<p>thanks dearsiryes</p>
