Hi,
I am a California Community College student who really wants to transfer for Fall 05. I have only been here for one year and Im applying as a junior transfer becuase I took so many AP classes in high school.

High school:
GPA=4.33
ECs= not alot of them. No sports. French Club, Honor Society, CSF, etc. I have been working since the day I turned 15, usually at least 20 hours a week. However, I can make this look more impressive than it is on applications.
Awards= Honor Scholar, Bank of America Social Sciences Award, National Merit Semifinalist
SAT= 1380
SAT II= 760 (US History), 750 (Writing), 740 (Math 2C)
AP Scores:
European History=3
US History=5
Biology=4
US Government=4
English Literature=4
Calculus BC=5

College:
GPA= 3.7 (I got straight A’s last semester and I should again this semester. The B’s are from 2 classes I took while a junior in high school.)
ECs= I dont have any. I work. This is definitely my super-weak spot.

What do you guys think my chances are at Cal? I applied as an American Studies major and I REALLY want to go to Berkeley. Thank you so much for your help.

I have seen so many people who couldnt get into the Haas(Business) program as a transfer despite their stellar GPA (over 3.7+) and eventually decided to come to UCLA for Business Econ major.

So at least from my experiences, you have less than decent chance of getting into the Haas program.

But if your intended major is something in Letters & Science department (e.g. sociology, economics, math, etc), then I would venture to say that you have better than average chance of getting in.

I have seen some people who get into Berkeley with 3.5~3.6 GPA, so I would assume that it is very doable.

As to your chances to the Engineering major, I am sorry but I dont have too much information to draw any conclusive statements from.

technically, all HS stuff and SAT's are not considered for cc transfers. Having to work is considered just like an EC, since many people need to work for financial reasons. If you are in NorCal, you have a good shot for L&S.
