I am currently a freshman at a top 20 university looking to transfer into Barnard College.
I applied to Columbia because my parents wanted me to, but I do not expect to be admitted. Even if I were, I have my heart set on Barnard. Chance me?

My college GPA is a 3.53 right now because I can only factor in this first year.
During my time at university, I founded and became president of an on campus club which now has around 30 members, I became assistant programming director of our college TV station, I joined a nationally recognized sorority and I went on a weeklong volunteer program to Honduras.
I went to a small public IB HS where I graduated 23/160.
My GPA was UW: 3.76 and W: 4.47. Senior year, I made straight A's.

I think you have very good transfer chances, but if there is any way to take the SAT I and SAT II’s again as a college student, then you should. Good luck!

idumea! i think you have an awesome chance. goodluck, yo. i posted a bunch of replies in a bunch of fall 09 barnard transfer threads and been paranoid for like forever

someone goes to my high school with a really similar profile to you, and she got in to barnard. especially as a transfer, i think you’ve got a really good chance!! all colleges also like to see passion (which i think you’ve shown), and quality is always better than quantity when it comes to ECs. GOOD LUCK!! chance me back if you want.

i can’t believe we start hearing back by today until like mid-may. i have a wayyy lower gpa but i have hope regarding my other stats and credentials. hopefully they do review our well-rounded-ness in its entirety.

goodluck idumea! hopefully we escape our so called southern ivies soon!

if it makes you feel better i have like a B at vanderbilt it’s horrible i started out with engineering and it’s only this semester i’m making A’s, but it should go up to a B+ cumulative after this sem, but still. my HS stats were pretty baller since i got into so many schools, i only had an 89 average unweighted but recs were great, was part of student council and a lot of other extracurrics, and the good ones i got into were carnegie, vanderbilt, and i got the ENG scholarship from BU. i only got rejected from columbia but i didn’t even apply to barnard and regret it so badly. also im asian and international. the asian part doesn’t help that i have a low gpa. idumea i hope we get peace of mind by the end of this week! :-)
