Transfer Chances for Anywhere (please help)

Hey CC,

I am a sophomore at the University of Missouri looking to transfer for Spring 2017. I really just want to get out of Missouri and go somewhere in the Northeast (preferably Massachusetts). Somebody please just give me a few recommendations as to where I stand a chance of being admitted and receiving at least some financial aid. Preferably, supply me with colleges in the Northeast or DC. I would really appreciate the help because figuring out where I am competitive is driving me insane.

Credit Hours: 30
GPA: 3.7
Major: Philosophy
School: University of Missouri
EC: Captain of debate team, two-time national debate qualifier, two-time state debate qualifier, president of my schools division for a charitable allotment organization (in high school), and involved in charity work in Denver (high school).

I’m not including my ACT and High School GPA because I have 30 credit hours, and that information is not usually mandatory.

Also, I am attempting to get into law school after graduation, so prestige and rank is decently important. Just please give me some recommendations for schools and where I should be aiming for. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Boston College, Tufts, Fordham, NYU are some ideas! Good luck!

Yes, stick with privates, there is a better chance of some aid.

So happy I got replies! So, I actually stand a chance applying to NYU? Xray, do you have any idea of what “tier” of school I should be shooting for, because I definitely need financial aid. I have had absolutely ZERO luck finding information about what private schools are generous with financial aid for transfers. It seems like really scarce information. This entire thing is stressing me out. I just want to get out of Missouri lol

NYU gives minimal FA; they are known for being stingy. I don’t think you could afford their fees.

Well, could you propose some schools that I can get into that would potentially supply me with aid?

Transfers generally don’t receive good financial aid. Check the websites of schools you hope to attend and see what kinds of transfer aid they give.
Generally, it’s not above several thousand per year, which is often not enough, but you can try asking other posters: @mom2collegekids generally has some good ideas.
