Transfer Chances for Fall 2009

I am thinking about transferring to Rutgers New Brunswick for the fall of 2009.

State of Residence: NJ
Current School: Binghamton University
Major: Undecided (something that will put me on the pre law track, or accounting)
Classes currently taking at Binghamton:
Macroeconomics- A
Statistics- A
Intro to Ideology Studies- A
Coming to Voice (Freshman Writing Class)- A- or A

High School
89.56 unweighted GPA, AP Credits in AP US history, AP US Gov AP Euro and AP Lit
SAT: 690 Math, 700 Verbal, 700 Writing
3 year varsity letter winner for football, co captain, all league selection, ran track 9-11, captain of mock trial team, member of history club, worked full time as a janitor for the past three summers

Other info: was accepted into the Rutgers honors program as a freshman
Reason for transferring: Rutgers is about $5,000 cheaper and 2 hours closer to home, which will help my family out considering my father has cancer and my parents do not make alot of money

I guess my thread isn't worth responding to because I'm not applying to an "elite" school, oh well

Sounds like you have a very good chance. Your SAT's are above the middle 50%, your highschool GPA is consistent with undergrad admissions, good EC's, strong college GPA. You have the stats. Next, I would focus on writing strong essay(s) (I don't know how many they require), and find a professor who would be willing to write you a recommendation.

Thanks for the help, I'm pretty confident it's two essays, one personal statement and one on why I want to transfer (see reason for transferring) so hopefully it'll work out, I just hope it doesn't hurt me that I was accepted to the honors program as a freshman, turned it down and am now applying for it a year later.

I think that will actually be beneficial to you..they obviously wanted you when you applied earlier, you did well in college, and now you're reapplying.. I see no reason why it would hurt you.

Yeah I would say you have a good chance, definitely a good match, it would be really weird for them to reject you after you got accepted just a year before.
