Hi, I’m hoping to transfer from ECU with 62 credit hours and a 3.194 GPA. I plan on studying religion at NCSU. I have completed my English, however, I have not completed the Math composite. I’m not sure how competitive the College Humanities is, but I figured this would be a good start to figure things out.
They really like to see every minimal requirement completed. Transferring from a college to ncsu is treated the same as if you were transferring colleges within NCSU, and they won’t let students CODA without having every requirement
I checked the CODA on their website and the only requirements for Religious Studies (the program I’m applying for) is to have 12 credit hours (I have 62), a GPA of a 2.0 or higher (I have a 3.194), and at least a B- in a Rel course ( I have completed multiple REL courses and I have made B- and higher). I only have not completed my math, which I will do over this summer. Is there still a viable chance of me getting in? Thanks!
@ECUNCSU is the math part of the requirement for religious study transfer? because if so then your chances are lowered. Last year i applied and was missing calculus, which i was set to take in the summer at local cc, and despite meeting every other requirement i still didnt get in.
Like i said earlier, they like to see every single requirement met at time of application. But, that doesnt mean you dont have a chance!
No, it’s not. It just says have 12 credit hours and 2.0 GPA! What program did you apply for? Thanks so much for the help!
@ECUNCSU I am also applying for the same college because I’m going for Philosophy. The CODA requirements are made for students transferring within NCSU, so current students. For transfer students the requirements are a bit different.
Both of our majors are apart of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the reccomended requirements for competitive transfers is to have a 3.0+ gpa, a college english class, and a math class that is not statistics.
I know the recommendations for a competitive application. I’m more so concerned that my missing Math will overshadow everything else. Do you know how important the Math is for transfer students? I can’t imagine our departments being too competitive to get into. Thanks!
I was rejected last year because I didn’t have Math even though my GPA is 3.7. They also mention that reason in the rejected letter. So I am not sure about your situation
@ECUNCSU From previous posts I have read I think that it will definitely affect your application because from what others have said its really important to have those classes to even be considered.
What program were you applying for and how many credit hours did you have?
Anyone here applying as an engineering major? Is is likely to get in with a 3.5 gpa?
@ECUNCSU I’m applying for psychology which I think is in the same college as religious studies. I’m so nervous. I wish they would let transfer students know earlier since we are kind of stuck until we find out!
Im trying to transfer from UNCG as a Social Work Major and I do not have my math course either but I have heard of a course through the social work program that most colleges have that is a STATS course IN the major program that fills the requirement. Should I really be worried about my one math credit that isn’t fulfilled yet while I have all my other GEC courses?
