Transfer Chances from UConn

Hi, I am a 4th-semester student from The University of Connecticut, Storrs, trying to transfer into UMD-College Park for Fall 2006. I had 46 credits completed when I applied, and I'll have 61 by the start of next semester. My GPA is currently a 3.13. I applied to the business school at UMD, but since it is an (LEP)? program it told me to pick a second choice, for which I picked economics.
It says on the website that in order to be considered for early transfer admission, you must have the application in before March 1st. I believe I had everything in before March 1st (application, essay, resume), except on the website it didn't record getting my college transcript until a few days after. On my decision page now, it says "Your online decisions will be available the first week of April, 2006."
I was just curious if anyone was in a similar situation as myself and possibly knew of my chances for getting in. My classes have been pretty tough, my GPA is a 3.13 and I have a nice amount of activities and jobs on my resume. The UMD Transfer page doesn't offer too much info. on requirements for getting in, so I was curious if anyone here can offer me any insight. Thanks.

ha come on, if 40 people can read this message at least one person can respond, no? still haven't heard from umd and the suspense is killing me, especially since i have no idea what my chances are

I would really tell you something if I knew something about transfers. I am in high school now but I do know if someone is not accepted into Maryland they can go to my local community college and transfer with a 3.0 automatic, no questions asked after 30 credits. Uconn is a really good school so I would think you could get in. The business school is harder to get into than the school itself, like you said LEP. The business school has an average SAT of 1360 compared to the rest of the school with a 1260.

some of my admission documents did not get through right away. My teacher rec was turned in a month before the deadline but it was not uploaded to their site until 2 days after I turned in the App which was the deadline. If the thing says you will have an answer the first week of april I would think that is correct. I would call admissions to make sure or just write an e-mail. They are quick at answering.

Good Luck!! remember to tell us if you get in.

did u take calculus?...if you didn't, they won't even consider you....or so i've been told. also, im assuming you didn't get into the business school at uconn, because you need at least a 3.2 to transfer into the program within the university. What makes you think you will get into UMD business school...Do your research????!!!!

well aren't you so damn omniscient. not everything is gpa, gpa, gpa dick.

cheapseats, thanks for the insight, i appreciate it.

omniscient, its always nice to find someone who thinks theyre so much smarter than everyone else. I bet you have a lot of friends. To answer your questions:

yes, I've taken calculus.

your right, I didn't get into the business school at UConn. You need a 3.3 to get in, and if you read my first post you will see I don't have that.

I've done a fair amount of research. If you look on the business school website for transfers, you will see this...
To be considered for admission, applicants must complete the following requirements:
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (preferred, may vary based upon the applicant pool)
Minimum junior standing?60 credits earned
Completion of 50% of lower-level university core requirements
Completion of Gateway courses, all with ?C-? or better:

Also, if you learn how read, nowhere did I say I thought I was getting into the business school. Hence why 1., I also applied as a liberal arts student for economics, and 2., im posting on this message board asking for advice.

Ozmaweez, I hope your right on that one.

Save your money on the app., you won't get in. By the way, gpa means alot in terms of transferring dick!

if yer gpa is weak, then get recommendations and write a damn good essay.. i failed about 5 classes when i first started going to college but i straightened up and pulled my GPA to a 3.5.. and i got accepted. every case is diff. don't let some immature fool tell you u won't get in cuz yer gpa is .XXX off..

haha, go for it...

thanks skisnation, its just the maryland site really doesn't offer any statistics on what GPA you need to get in to either school (as a transfer). i guess i'll just wait it out
